I created true type fonts (TTF) I called "Baybayin Modern" to use in modern art. The fonts are stylized modern composite of many examples from the past but the style is based primarily on my calligraphy work and handwriting. The font is calligraphic & artistic representations and the characters’ shapes, sizes and weights have been made uniform in order to present a neat and elegant printed appearance.
If used in your artwork, please include a credit and/or link back to either the blog ( [link] ) or my DA page.
The Style (Gana)
Inspired by Japanese Hiragana and Katakana. The bold blotchy strokes simulates a thick marker pen with slightly fuzzy edges.
The Sample
Tanaga, the Filipino equivalent of a Japanese haiku.
In Philippine literature, a tanaga is a poem consisting of four lines with each line equally having between seven and nine syllables. To compare, the Japanese haiku has 17 phonetic units divided into three phrases of 5, 7 and 5 units respectively.
These short poems do not have any titles, although the apparent theme is used to refer to it. Most are written in Tagalog, the basis of the Filipino national language.
The script sample's theme is "Anger", it reads:
Ang damdami’y sumisikdo sa balitang di-totoo; habang sila’y nanunudyo, poot nag-aalimpuyo.
This font has been featured in my journal. This is to promote the fact that #communityrelations needs public opinion about the Fonts gallery. Your input is welcome here: [link]
Thank you for featuring this 'font'. However, I don't exactly know how our South East Asian Indic-derived script fits within your collection of Western Roman Alphabet fonts.
